Mandrake or the mandragore (Mandragora officinarum L.) has a very long history of use as a sacred herb. The root of Mandrake is thought to take on a human form. It has been used in association with magic in European folklore for centuries. Mandrake was a common ingredient in witches' brew and was often carried for protection and luck.
